Worship Introduction
|
|
Worshiping God transforms us into "Contagious Christians." In worship we approach
God with adoration, praise, prayer and a contrite heart, seeking His guidance in
our lives. In turn, God refills, refuels and refreshes us with His Holy Spirit,
forgiving our sins and teaching us through the preaching of His Word. Worshiping
the Lord gives us an inner peace that radiates to others. Joy, love, and a serving
spirit spread from us to all we meet. We become contagious.

Music
|
|
Music is an integral part of any Lutheran worship service. From the liturgical
responses to the familiar (and not so familiar) hymns and scripture songs, the
worship service comes alive with music. Organ, keyboard, choirs and instrumentalists
are incorporated into this joyous praise to God.

Liturgy (the structural flow of the service)
|
|
The Lutheran Church is a liturgical church. There is a patterned flow to the service
that is used universally and is familiar to all Lutherans. It is in the liturgy that
we seek and find absolution of our sins, express our beliefs through the creeds, and
talk with God in the Lord's Prayer. Twice a month Grace Lutheran offers Holy Communion
to all who confess their sins. This sacrament is a part of the liturgy. Parts of the
liturgy are modified to celebrate the various seasons of the church year, such as
Christmas, Easter, and Lent.

Acolytes
|
|
At Grace Lutheran the acolyte is an important member of the Sunday worship team.
The acolyte announces the beginning of the service by lighting the candles on the
altar, and signifies the end of the service by extinguishing these candles as the
last hymn is sung. During the service the acolyte reads the lessons of the day
to the congregation and assists the Pastor with other duties.

Ushers
|
|
The usher is available to help the visitor or church member with any difficulties
encountered before, during, or after the service. Ushers assist in the orderly
progression of the service as outlined in their duties, and attend to problems
or emergencies as needed.
