At Grace we are blessed with a staff that has a heart for God. Each staff member has been called by God to serve the Grace community and the world.

Pastor Wendy Deeben was ordained on July 29, 2006. She served Saint Nicholas Lutheran Church as associate pastor from Augusts 2006-July 2009. She began at Grace in August of 2009.

Pastor Wendy has a heart for God's people. She enjoys walking alongside of all people in their faith journey. She seeks opportunities to help people grow in their faith. She also seeks justice in the world by having relationships with several homeless and underemployed in the surrounding community.

Pastor Wendy is married to John Deeben. Together they have one son, Benjamin. They also have two spoiled dogs, Buster and Buttons, and four beloved cats, Rocket, Tiger, Link, and D.Va.

Pastor Wendy enjoys reading, marvel and dc comics, and Star Wars. She loves the Washington Nationals. She is also a 3rd degree black belt and instructor at Sung's Black Belt Academy in Dunkirk, MD.

Joan Phillips is our Administrative Assistant. She does and awesome job welcoming guests, creating a weekly bulletin, and helping the pastor, Director of Music, Church council and team leaders achieve their goals.

Joan moved to Bowie in 1987 after getting married. She and her husband have two adult children. She has been employed at Grace Lutheran church since 2007 and considers herself fortunate to have found a job that she truly enjoys. If you happen to drop by she will alays greet you with a smile
